About Us
The City of Gladstone Downtown Development Authority (DDA) was established in 1992 to enhance the quality of life for the City of Gladstone residents and develop a positive image of Downtown Gladstone for businesses, residents, and visitors. We sponsor events such as the Gladstone Farmers Market and the Old-Fashioned Christmas and work closely with the City Commission to assist in city wide initiatives.
Membership Criteria
- Board members must have an interest in property in the downtown district (either the yellow or blue section of the linked map). Business representatives, property owners, and residents within the district are all invited to apply.
- The term for each DDA member is four years
- Members must be consistently available to meet in person at City Hall on the third Tuesday of each month at 8:00 AM ET
- DDA members shall serve without compensation for their services

About Us
Candidates for this position must be civic minded individuals who understand that the future of Gladstone is a priority. They must be willing to assist, learn and provide direction for the appropriate development pattern for neighborhoods and for the community. Planning Commissioners are volunteer, non-elected/appointed residents of the community who give guidance to the land use, zoning, and planning process in the community. They help formulate and adopt the master plan, make recommendations on zoning ordinances, and review site plans, conditional use requests and other important land use requests. Few non-elected positions have the kind of authority to affect the future of the community to such a great extent.
- Membership shall represent important segments of the community, such as economic, governments, educational and social development
- Membership shall represent the entire geography of the city to the extent practicable
- Members of the planning commission shall be qualified electors of the city, except that one member may be an individual who is not a qualified elector
- The term for each member is three years.
- Planning Commission members shall serve without compensation for their services
- Members must be consistently available to meet in person at City Hall on the first Tuesday of each month at 5:00 PM ET
